COMPANY HISTORY

CBH Consulting Engineers Inc. is a private consulting firm that specializes in structural engineering and has evolved from two local predecessor firms:  Benson & Gerdin Engineers, founded in 1965 by Roger D. Benson and Harold E. Gerdin; and Creegan & D'Angelo of San Jose, California, which merged with Benson & Gerdin in 1986.

In 1991, Creegan & D'Angelo discontinued operations of its Phoenix office due to the low level of construction activity in the Arizona market.  Several key employees were offered permanent positions in California home office with the firm, but chose instead to remain in Phoenix, thus forming CBH Consulting Engineers Inc. and thereby continuing to service the on-going needs of past clients in the Southwest.

Principals are William B. Creager, P.E., and Bruce C. Barrera, P.E., and they have worked together on hundreds of projects over the last 25 years, including numerous projects completed with the predecessor firms.  Professional registrations are maintained in several Western states, where a number of projects have been completed.

The primary focus of engineering work for CBH is structural engineering of buildings and structures., including:

  • design of new facilities.
  • forensic investigations of failure and distress.
  • rehab design for new use/function.
  • short span bridge design.
  • expert witness work.
Additionally, general civil engineering complete the engineering services package offered to clients by CBH.
