BRUCE C. BARRERA, P.E.
Mr. Barrera is a registered structural engineer, principal and founding partner of CBH Consulting Engineers Inc. Prior to CBH he worked for Benson & Gerdin, and Creegan & D'Angelo from 1978 to 1991as a Project Engineer and Project Manager for the Structural Department. From 1970 to 1978, Mr. Barrera worked for HWH, Inc. and Industrial Ovens, Inc., both of Cleveland, Ohio as a Structural Design/Drafter and Layout Draftsman, respectively. Having worked his way up through the ranks from draftsman, to designer, to structural engineer, to project manager, and currently principal/partner of CBH, Mr. Barrera, with over 30 years of experience in structural design and engineering, truly has a firsthand understanding of the many facets of his profession.
Principal and Partner in CBH Consulting Engineers- and responsible for: principal review, project management, structural engineering, and marketing of professional services.
Principal in Charge and Senior Project Manager- for a multitude of institutional, commercial, industrial, and Department of Defense projects.
Structural Engineer of Record- for dozens of new construction projects including: office buildings, maintenance facilities, warehouses, gymnasiums, industrial towers, equipment foundations, etc. that require proficiency in the design of: reinforced concrete, masonry, structural steel and wood.
Structural Engineer of Record- for numerous remodel and renovation projects ranging in size from residential and small commercial office buildings, up to large public auditoriums, arenas, and athletic field structures requiring in-depth field investigations and the design of unique details that are both constructable and cost efficient.
Responsible for forensic investigation- of structural failures to determine if cause was: improper design, workmanship, lack of maintenance, material failure, or overloading and, when required, recommending repairs along with the associated construction cost estimates for their implementation.
Performed structural investigations- on both residential and commercial buildings after seismic failures to determine extent of damage, overall stability of structure, and repair recommendations
